## Make your content readable without JavaScript

1. Make sure search engine indexing is turned on for your site. Wix lists it as a requirement for llms.txt, and it controls whether search engines may index you at all.

1. Open **SEO & GEO** in your site dashboard and scroll to **Tools and settings**.
2. Select **Robots.txt Editor**, then **View File**.
3. Edit the file under "This is your current file", then click **Save Changes** and **Save**.
4. Wix's own AI-blocking example disallows `ChatGPT-User` along with training crawlers. If you want ChatGPT to fetch your pages when users ask about you, don't copy that line.

## Add llms.txt

1. Wix generates and maintains an `llms.txt` file automatically. It only includes content that is already public on your site.
2. Requirements: an upgraded site with a connected custom domain, and search engine indexing turned on.
3. To edit it: **SEO & GEO** > **Tools and settings** > **Go to llms.txt** > **More Actions** > **Edit file** > **Continue**, then **Save Changes**. Once you edit, automatic updates stop; resetting to the default turns them back on.
4. To hide it, switch off **Use your llms.txt file**.

## Add JSON-LD and head code

1. Structured data: in the editor open **Pages & Menu**, click **More Actions** next to the page, then **SEO basics** > **Advanced SEO** > **Structured Data Markup** > **+Add New Markup**. Paste JSON-LD and click **Apply**. Wix accepts JSON-LD only, under 7,000 characters per markup, up to five per page.
2. Wix adds preset markup automatically for Stores product pages, Bookings service pages, Blog posts and Events pages, and Local Business markup on the home page when you add a business name and location.
3. Other head tags: **Advanced SEO** > **Additional Tags** accepts `<meta>` and `<link>` tags (up to 10). For anything else, Wix points to its Custom Code section.

## Sitemap

1. Wix updates your sitemap automatically. Find it at `yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml`.
2. After you complete the SEO Setup Checklist, Wix submits your sitemap index to Google.
3. Changing a page's default canonical tag may remove that URL from the sitemap, Wix warns.

## Common mistakes

- Copying Wix's AI-blocking robots.txt sample as-is. It blocks ChatGPT-User, which fetches pages when people ask ChatGPT about you.
- Ticking the `nosnippet` robots meta tag on pages you want quoted. Wix says it keeps the page's content from being used as direct input for AI overviews.
- Editing llms.txt and forgetting it no longer updates itself. Reset to default to turn automatic updates back on.
- Adding JSON-LD that describes things not shown on the page. Wix notes Google requires markup to match visible content.
