What Lovable's own documentation says about how AI crawlers see sites built with it, and the exact settings for robots.txt, llms.txt, structured data and the sitemap.

## How Lovable delivers pages to crawlers

**Server-rendered (new apps) or pre-rendered for verified crawlers (older apps)** (Depends on your project)

Lovable's docs say apps created from May 13, 2026 (June 22, 2026 on Enterprise plans) use TanStack Start with server-side rendering, so every request gets fully rendered HTML. Older apps use React + Vite and render in the browser. For those, Lovable renders the page on request and returns HTML only to verified crawlers, which it says include Google, Bing, social preview bots and the AI search crawlers of ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Gemini. Other bots get the regular single-page app unless they ask for Markdown. Lovable says any client that requests Markdown gets a Markdown version of the page on both stacks.

Why it matters: many AI crawlers don't run JavaScript. If your text only appears after scripts run, they may see an empty page.

## What we found on 33 Lovable sites we track

Average AI visibility score 67/100 · 61% only show page text after JavaScript runs · 61% have no llms.txt (crawl up to 2026-10-18).

## Make your content readable without JavaScript

1. Find out which stack your project uses. Lovable says apps created from May 13, 2026 (June 22, 2026 on Enterprise) are on TanStack Start, and older apps are on React + Vite.
2. On React + Vite you don't need to set anything up. Lovable pre-renders published public pages for verified crawlers and says you don't need an external pre-rendering service.
3. Lovable says content that loads with the page is usually included in the pre-rendered copy, but content that loads late may be missing. Put the facts you want AI to quote in the first render, not behind tabs, clicks or slow data calls.
4. If you want every visitor and tool to get the same full HTML, upgrade to TanStack Start. In the project chat, ask: `Upgrade my app to TanStack Start so my pages render on the server and my link previews work.` Normal Lovable usage costs apply, and your live site stays the same until you publish again.
5. Test every page after upgrading. Lovable warns that some browser-only libraries can break server rendering in ways its checks don't catch.

## robots.txt: let AI search crawlers in

1. Lovable creates a `robots.txt` with every new project.
2. Open **More** > **Analytics** in the project toolbar, select the **SEO & AI** tab, and run the SEO & AI search review. It flags a `robots.txt` that is missing, blocks crawlers, or has a missing or wrong `Sitemap:` line.
3. Click **Try to fix**, or ask Lovable in chat to change specific rules, for example to allow the AI search crawlers below.
4. Publish, then open `yourdomain.com/robots.txt` to confirm the live file.

Rules that let AI search crawlers in (ask Lovable to use these):

```
User-agent: OAI-SearchBot
Allow: /
User-agent: ChatGPT-User
Allow: /
User-agent: PerplexityBot
Allow: /
User-agent: Claude-SearchBot
Allow: /
User-agent: Claude-User
Allow: /
User-agent: *
Allow: /
Sitemap: https://yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml
```

## Add llms.txt

1. Lovable doesn't require `llms.txt`, and its SEO & AI search review doesn't treat a missing file as a problem.
2. Lovable's docs say that if your project already has an `llms.txt` file, Lovable keeps serving it. They don't describe a button for creating one, so ask Lovable in chat to add a plain-text file served at `/llms.txt`. Write the content with the [llms.txt generator](https://getrankroot.com/tools/llms-txt-generator).
3. Publish, open `yourdomain.com/llms.txt`, and check it with the [llms.txt validator](https://getrankroot.com/tools/llms-txt-validator).

## Add JSON-LD and head code

1. Lovable generates a title, meta description and favicon for every page while it builds. To change them, ask in the project chat, for example: `Update the meta description of the pricing page.` Lovable says metadata edits use credits like any other build request.
2. To see how each page looks in search and link previews, open the Publish dialog, then **⋮** > **Social & search appearance**.
3. For structured data, ask Lovable to add JSON-LD where it fits the page. The review flags markup that can't be read, doesn't match the visible page, or is incomplete. Lovable says a missing `WebSite`, `Organization` or `FAQPage` block is not an issue by itself.
4. Publish. Metadata changes reach your live site only on the next publish.

## Sitemap

1. Lovable doesn't always create a sitemap. Run the review on the **SEO & AI** tab and click **Try to fix** on the sitemap finding.
2. Publish your latest changes first. Lovable notes Google reads the sitemap from your live site, so pages that exist only in unpublished code are left out.
3. Connect Google Search Console from the **Google searches** card on the SEO & AI tab. Lovable can verify your site and submit the sitemap in chat.

## Common mistakes

- Expecting a restricted or branded workspace URL to show up in search. Lovable says unpublished projects, projects with restricted website access, and branded workspace URLs never appear in search. Connect a custom domain.
- Testing an older React + Vite app with a generic crawler and assuming ChatGPT sees the same thing, or the reverse. Unverified bots get the JavaScript app, and RankRoot's audit is not on Lovable's verified list, so it shows you what those other bots and agents see. To check Lovable's pre-rendered copy, Lovable suggests Google's URL Inspection tool or a social platform's link debugger.
- Changing titles or descriptions in chat and not publishing. The live site only updates on the next publish.
- Loading key facts late (after a click, a slow API call or a tab switch). Lovable says late content may be missing from pre-rendered pages.

## FAQ

### Is my Lovable site visible to ChatGPT?

If it is publicly published, Lovable says yes: published apps return readable HTML to search engines and AI crawlers, including those of ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Gemini. New apps are server-rendered. Older React + Vite apps are pre-rendered for verified crawlers only. Your robots.txt must also allow the crawlers, and restricted sites and branded workspace URLs never appear in search.

### Do I need Prerender.io or another pre-rendering service for Lovable?

No. Lovable says Lovable-hosted projects don't need an external pre-rendering service for search engines or AI crawlers.

### Should I upgrade my Lovable project to TanStack Start?

Lovable says older React + Vite projects keep working and stay readable to verified crawlers. Upgrade if you want every visitor and tool, not just verified crawlers, to get full HTML, plus more reliable link previews. Usage costs apply and you should test pages afterwards.

### Does Lovable support llms.txt?

Lovable doesn't require it and its review doesn't flag a missing file, but it says an existing llms.txt file keeps being served. Ask Lovable in chat to add one, publish, then check yourdomain.com/llms.txt.
